Questions
Find answers to common questions about our masonry services, process, and expertise.
What areas do you cover?
We are based in London and cover all surrounding areas. Our team regularly works across Greater London, the Home Counties, and can accommodate projects further afield depending on scope and requirements.
What types of properties do you work on?
We work on all types of properties including residential homes, commercial buildings, heritage and listed buildings, churches, public buildings, and new developments. No project is too large or too small.
Are you insured?
Yes, Masonry Brothers Limited is fully insured with comprehensive public liability and professional indemnity cover. We can provide copies of our insurance certificates upon request.
Do you work on listed buildings?
Yes, we have extensive experience working on Grade I and Grade II listed buildings. Our heritage stonemasons are trained in conservation techniques and we use approved materials including traditional lime mortars to ensure full compliance with conservation standards and listed building regulations.
What types of mortar do you use?
We work with both modern and traditional mortar systems. For heritage and conservation projects, we use traditional lime mortars including NHL (Natural Hydraulic Lime) and hot lime mixes. For modern applications, we use high-quality cement-based mortars tailored to the specific requirements of each project.
Can you match existing stonework or brickwork?
Yes, our skilled craftsmen are experienced in colour-matching and texture-matching both stone and mortar to ensure new work blends seamlessly with existing surfaces. We source matching materials and can work with reclaimed stone and brick where appropriate.
Do you provide steam cleaning services?
Yes, we offer professional steam cleaning using industry-approved low-pressure, high-temperature systems. This method is safe for use on natural stone, brickwork, historic facades, and decorative features, and is approved for listed buildings and conservation areas.
Do you offer free consultations?
Yes, we offer free on-site consultations for all projects. During the consultation, we assess the scope of work, take measurements, discuss your requirements, and provide a detailed, no-obligation quotation.
How long does a typical project take?
Project timelines vary depending on scope and complexity. A small repointing job might take a few days, while a full facade renovation could take several weeks. We provide a clear timeline during the quotation stage and keep you informed throughout the project.
Do you handle planning permissions and building regulations?
While we do not directly manage planning applications, we have extensive experience working within the requirements of planning permissions and building regulations. We can advise on what may be required and work alongside your architect or planning consultant to ensure compliance.
What happens if bad weather delays the project?
Masonry work is weather-dependent, and certain tasks cannot be carried out in rain, frost, or extreme temperatures. If weather delays occur, we communicate promptly and adjust the schedule accordingly. We never compromise on quality by working in unsuitable conditions.
Whether you need stone restoration, facade renovation, or bespoke masonry work, our team is ready to deliver exceptional results.
